What makes a trip to Hawaii with TFT Travel For Teens special?

Natural Beauty

You won’t fully grasp the meaning of “awe-inspiring” until you immerse yourself in Hawaii’s iconic natural wonders. Lush rainforests, stunning beaches, majestic volcanoes, and vibrant coral reefs are waiting to be explored on the Hawaiian islands.

Culture

Hawaii is as rich in culture as it is in natural beauty. Embrace the spirit of Aloha through traditional luaus, the art of hula, and mouthwatering cuisine.

Service

There are plenty of opportunities to give back to the communities we visit in Hawaii. Whether you want to lend a hand in sea turtle conservation in Maui, connect with local children in Oahu, or work with reef ecology on the Big Island, there’s a service project for everyone in Hawaii.

Adventure

Adventure is just around every corner here! Swim in secret waterfalls, sail alongside pods of dolphins, hike through lava tubes, snorkel with giant manta rays, or take a surf lesson, all surrounded by the most breathtaking views!

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of activities are included on a teen tour of Hawaii?

Activities in Hawaii are centered around the islands’ incredible natural diversity, from the ocean to the volcanoes. You can expect to surf iconic breaks, snorkel with green sea turtles, and even swim with manta rays at night. On land, we hike through the lush rainforests of Kauai, explore the volcanic craters of the Big Island, and visit historic sites like Pearl Harbor. Every day is designed to be active and immersive, showcasing the best of the “Aloha Spirit.”

What is the age range for student trips to Hawaii?

Our Hawaii programs are primarily designed for students finishing 7th through 12th grade (ages 12 to 18). We organize our groups by age to ensure that middle schoolers and high schoolers are paired with their peers. These trips are ideal for students who want a mix of high-adrenaline adventure—like surfing and night snorkeling—and the independence to explore local island culture in a safe, guided setting.

Are student trips to Hawaii safe, and how is the group supported?

Yes, Hawaii is an incredibly safe and welcoming destination for teen travelers. Our programs are led by experienced staff trained in risk management and first aid, including specialized water safety protocols. We partner with expert local instructors for activities like surfing and scuba diving to ensure every student feels confident and secure. Our staff provides constant support and guidance on local customs and ocean safety while ensuring the group remains cohesive and well-supervised throughout the journey.

What is the food like, and can you accommodate dietary restrictions in Hawaii?

The food in Hawaii is a tropical highlight, and we are fully equipped to accommodate most dietary needs. Students will enjoy a mix of fresh local flavors—like poke bowls, huli-huli chicken, and shave ice—alongside familiar favorites. While our trip leaders always encourage students to try new things, they always ensure every traveler has something they can eat and enjoy, even for those who are more selective eaters. Our staff is highly experienced in managing allergies and dietary preferences by working closely with local restaurants and our guides. We encourage you to contact us before your trip to discuss any specific dietary requirements.

Authenticity is ingrained in everything we do. Eat, stay, and travel like a local.

"On behalf of Sofia and us as parents, I want to express just how transformative and remarkable Sofia's experience with Travel for Teen was. The program far surpassed our expectations, and we were genuinely impressed by the level of detail and attention you provided throughout the trip. From the daily reports to the captivating pictures, to the well-trained staff, and the well-planned itinerary, everything was executed flawlessly. Each day, we eagerly looked forward to your updates, which allowed us to feel connected to Sofia's journey and gave us peace of mind knowing she was in good hands. Moreover, we are immensely grateful that we made the decision to send Sofia on this unforgettable adventure. This trip not only provided Sofia with a broad overview of different cultures and unforgettable friendships, but it also offered a unique educational aspect. Sofia had the opportunity to actively participate in learning about the importance of caring for sea turtles, the Hawaiian ocean, coral reefs, and the overall Hawaiian environment. To hear her recount the countless adventures, including her firsthand experiences in protecting and preserving these precious natural resources, was truly heartwarming. It is evident that she has gained a deep appreciation for the environment and a sense of responsibility towards its conservation. Travel for Teen has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on Sofia's life, providing her with an invaluable education beyond the classroom. We cannot thank you enough for instilling in her a passion for environmental stewardship and for providing her with this incredible opportunity. We wholeheartedly endorse and recommend your program to other parents seeking both educational and life-changing experiences for their children."

"I was so lucky to be able to experience a TFT trip. I went to Hawaii on the sea turtle service and adventure. On my trip I met many new friends and created bonds with them which I will forever have. I had amazing role models as my counselors and I felt extremely comfortable with them. This trip all together was really the opportunity of a lifetime. I was able to begin my passion for traveling through this wonderful program. I learned many lessons that I will carry with me for my whole life. This experience was truly life changing and booking this trip was the greatest decision I ever made. can honestly say that I had the best summer of my life in the year of 2019 and that is all thanks to TFT."

"When I was first offered to go on a trip with Travel For Teens I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it so much because I was going to be the oldest person on the trip, but I'm am so glad I decided to go. I chose to go on the Hawaii Sea Turtle Service & Adventure trip and it was absolutely amazing. It has always been one of my dreams to go to Hawaii and Travel For Teens made my dream come true. On the trip I was able to try scuba diving for the first time and I loved it! I also got to swim with sea turtles which was fantastic. One of the coolest things about the trip was getting to learn more about sea turtles and how we can help them survive in the wild. The staff was amazing and were great to hang out with and talk to. Travel For Teens Helped me face my fears and learn that there is a beautiful world out there. I would recommend Travel For teens to anyone that is trying to give there child the trip of a lifetime."

"With this being Owen's first time away from home in quite some time, we have been so grateful for the level of care and attention that you and the team put into every single detail of the trip. Even with the flight issues at the beginning you managed everything smoothly and ensured they had the time of their lives. It was so great to be well informed every day with emails and photos so we didn't even feel like we had to text Owen at all during the trip. I know he appreciated this independence! Owen had an unforgettable trip to Hawaii, met new people and had new experiences, and for that we can't thank you enough!"

Julie F. Dobbs Ferry, NY

"Aloha!! I'm Christine, Selin's mom, and I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for guiding and taking care of our teens on this wonderful adventure and for your amazing daily updates. My husband and I love reading them, and it really helps us appreciate everything Selin is experiencing there. It sounds like the kids are taking advantage of this wonderful opportunity to connect with the Hawaiian culture, food, people, ecosystem, and marine life. Thank you again, and hope you all enjoy the remainder of the trip!!!"

Christine Rye, NY

"Over the summer going into my senior year of high school I took a trip with TFT to Hawaii. I wanted to go out of the country, but my mom was skeptical. I honestly decided to go to Hawaii because it was the farthest state away from home for me. Before going on the trip, I never really thought about what I wanted my major to be in college. I can honestly say that TFT gave me the push start on my current major and helped me find my passion. During the trip, we did beach clean ups, learned about sea turtles, and hung out with some local children. I got volunteer service hours while having so much fun. I had the best time and met so many amazing people. I am a freshman in college now studying conservation biology at the University of Minnesota. I still to this day keep in contact with some of the people I met on that trip and I am so thankful I did it. To anyone thinking about traveling with TFT- I highly recommend it."
