What are students' favorite parts about Travel For Teens trips to Austria?

The overall favorite part is the blend of sophisticated history with fun, hands-on, and social activities. Students consistently rave about the unique cultural experiences in Vienna that go beyond typical sightseeing.

Is Vienna a safe city for teens to travel?

Yes, Vienna is consistently ranked as one of the safest major cities in the world. It has an extremely low crime rate, and as a capital city with an excellent public transport system and well-maintained public spaces, it’s a very comfortable and secure place for teen travelers. Our staff are trained to prioritize safety in all activities and during transitions.

What is the food like, besides strudel and pastries?

Austrian cuisine is hearty, delicious, and diverse! While we definitely enjoy the famous pastries, the main dishes are just as good. You’ll get to try classics like Wiener Schnitzel (a thin, breaded cutlet), various types of savory sausages, and other Central European favorites. There are also plenty of international options in the city to satisfy everyone.

What kind of clothes should I pack for a trip to Vienna?

Pack for a mix of comfortable walking and smart-casual settings. Vienna is an elegant European city, so you’ll want comfortable shoes for all the walking, but also some nicer outfits (jeans and a tidy shirt, or a simple dress) for our evening activities, like the traditional dance show. Depending on the time of year, make sure to bring layers—even in summer, evenings can be cool.

Where will we stay, and how safe are the accommodations?

We prioritize accommodations that are centrally located, safe, and convenient for our daily activities in Vienna. Our lodging is chosen to be close to public transit and major areas of interest, allowing us easy access to everything from the bustling pedestrian streets to the historic core of the city, ensuring you’re always in a vibrant, secure, and well-connected area.

Authenticity is ingrained in everything we do. Eat, stay, and travel like a local.

"When I decided I wanted to travel last summer, I looked at quite a few websites before I finally found TFT. I knew immediately that they were the company I wanted to spend my summer with because they had such a variety of intriguing options. The trip that really piqued my interest was the Europe for Older Teens: Prague, Austria, Slovenia & Croatia, and my experience with TFT ended up being two of the best weeks of my life! The activities were a perfect mix of history, culture, and free time to get to know all of the amazing people this tour allowed me to meet. Whether it was the locals, counselors, or other campers, I so enjoyed spending time with and interacting with them all! From wandering around the magical streets of Prague, gorging on pastries (and just food in general) in Vienna, indulging in the splendor of nature in Bled, and having my breath taken away by the charm of the Adriatic, every day was a treat. My summer with Travel for Teens was unforgettable, and I look forward to seeing even more of the world with them in the future!"

"Travel for Teens had provided a summer of a lifetime over the past two years. This past summer, I went to Budapest, Krakow, Vienna, and Prague and it was unforgettable. We had amazing counselors and kids from across the United States, and everyone became friends instantly. Our itinerary was perfect, with there being a great balance of fun activities like tours, bike rides, and boats throughout the places we visited coupled with time to relax, eat, and walk around to explore. We spent a perfect amount of time in each city and got to drive in the European countryside multiple times, seeing some small towns and great views. The places we stayed were clean, and the restaurants we ate at were delicious. Everything about the trip was unforgettable and I'm already excited to take another trip next year. Thank you TFT!"

"This past summer, I had the ability to travel with Travel For Teens to the beautiful countries and cities of Prague, Vienna, Slovenia and Croatia. The experiences I had while on this trip is one I will never forget. From meeting friends that will last a lifetime to seeing sights unimaginable, my entire trip was beyond amazing. From a biking tour through the beautiful city of Prague, to seeing breathtaking castles in Vienna, and swimming in the clearest water in Slovenia, the adventures and sights I saw while on this trip were ones that will forever be some of the most beautiful places I have seen. The counselors were great in helping us learn about the culture and making us feel like travelers, not tourists. I wish I could do this trip again."

"Thank you team TFT for providing such an amazing, organized, safe, age appropriate and most importantly fun experience for Erin. She came home raving about the trip and loved her entire experience, the mix of teens and her trip leaders. We couldn’t be more impressed with the TFT experience from our first inquiry call, to the travel planning support and most especially the communication during the trip itself. Looking forward to more TFT adventures for Erin and her sister Casey as well once she’s ready."
