Job Description:
Travel For Teens is looking for qualified candidates to be 1:1 Coaches for participants that need more direct attention to thrive while away from home. Potential Coaches must be at least 21 years old, and preference is given to candidates able to commit to at least two summers. Successful candidates are reliable, passionate about travel and different cultures, and have experience working with youth with social challenges including learning disabilities, special needs, or ASD. All staff must attend mandatory training either in person or virtually in late May or early June 2023.
Responsibilities:
- Direct 1:1 care of a participant that needs additional support
- Communicating directly with the participant’s parents
- Helping your traveler blend seamlessly into the group
- Ensuring the safety of our group
- Creating and maintaining a positive environment
- Creating lifelong enjoyable memories
- Completing day-to-day tasks that include errands and odd jobs
Qualifications:
- Experience with teens on the Autism spectrum, ADHD, ODD, or other developmental disorders
- Experience in a school setting (preferred)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience handling parents and parent communication
- Fluency in English
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude
- Experience and a passion for working with youth
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to work with little time off and limited personal time
