What is the food like in Portugal?
The food in Portugal is incredibly diverse, fresh, and generally very familiar to a teen’s palate, with lots of delicious options! Seafood is a highlight, especially fresh grilled fish and classic dishes like bacalhau (codfish prepared in countless ways). You’ll find plenty of delicious, simple grilled meats (like Frango Piri-Piri, or BBQ chicken), hearty sandwiches (bifanas—marinated pork sandwiches—are a popular favorite), and tasty soups. For dessert, the country is famous for its delicious pastries, particularly the world-renowned Pastel de Nata (custard tart).
