What makes a trip to Italy with Travel For Teens so special?
Live the Local Culture
Our programs bring you right into the heart of Italian life. We take you off the beaten path to explore hidden beaches, teach you how to grab a quick espresso at a local bar, and encourage you to join the energetic atmosphere of the central piazze (public squares) where life happens after sunset.
Art, Architecture, and Fun
Immerse yourself in the world-changing art of the Renaissance in Florence, marvel at the enduring power of the Roman Empire in Rome, and hike the breathtaking trails of the Cinque Terre. Whether you’re tossing a coin in the Trevi Fountain or exploring the ruins of Pompeii, Italy offers a perfect blend of high culture, history, and adventure.
Language and Confidence Boost
Traveling with a group of peers in a foreign country is a huge step. You’ll have opportunities to practice your basic Italian phrases in real-life situations, feel comfortable ordering meals and navigating new cities, gaining a massive boost in independence and self-confidence that will last long after the trip ends.
The Social Experience: Regional Cuisine
Italian food is not just a meal; it’s a profound expression of regional identity and family tradition. You’ll be sampling authentic, specialized dishes that differ wildly from north to south, indulging in the simple perfection of a wood-fired pizza in Naples, or savoring the fresh flavors of the Amalfi Coast.
Must-Try Cultural Foods:
Tiramisù: The famous, irresistible layered dessert made with coffee-soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone cream.
Prosciutto: The delicate, dry-cured Italian ham, a staple on antipasto platters.
Pesto: The vibrant green sauce of crushed basil, pine nuts, garlic, and cheese, originating from the Liguria region (Cinque Terre).
Espresso/Cappuccino: Learn the authentic Italian coffee rules such as no cappuccinos after 11 AM!

What should I know about mealtimes in Italy?
Be prepared for a later schedule, but slightly earlier than Spain! Italians typically eat lunch between 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM, and dinner rarely starts before 7:30 PM, often closer to 8:30 PM. They value a proper, relaxed meal. Instead of tapas, the typical pre-dinner custom is the Aperitivo (around 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM), where you enjoy a drink with small, complimentary snacks to tide you over until dinner.

"I just wanted to say thank you so much for everything… Your detailed emails are so amazing to read and the highlight of our evenings here in Atlanta, Georgia! I know it is no small undertaking to have all these kids and be managing a trip like this. We are truly grateful TFT has helped Henry have such an amazing experience! I can tell that he is growing in so many ways from this experience and loving it all. Anyway, just wanted to say a big thank you as you have your last few days. Thanks again for everything we so appreciate you and the rest of the team!!"
"Thank you so much for yet another update on what appears and sounds like has been an amazing trip. You and your team have made this quite an experience for our son Lucas on his first trip on his own. We love following the amazing pictures that are posted each day and hearing more about the many activities and places the group got to visit via your emails. We know Lucas is having a great time since we barely get to hear back from him, which means he’s been kept busy and enjoying his time with the group."
"Thank you team TFT for providing such an amazing, organized, safe, age appropriate and most importantly fun experience for Erin. She came home raving about the trip and loved her entire experience, the mix of teens and her trip leaders. We couldn’t be more impressed with the TFT experience from our first inquiry call, to the travel planning support and most especially the communication during the trip itself. Looking forward to more TFT adventures for Erin and her sister Casey as well once she’s ready."
"A HUGE THANK YOU to you to the trip leaders for providing an extraordinary travel experience for our group of middle school students! My husband and I have been blown away by the numbers and depth of activities -- and extremely appreciative to you for your extraordinarily thoughtful (and detail packed) emails and photos/videos! We have looked forward to your updates every day. It is clear how invested you are, and how much you care. Thank you!"
"The trip sounds amazing. We love seeing the pictures so thanks for those as well. Sounds like the kids are having a blast."
"This trip…my goodness!!! When we hear from Jordan, he is beyond happy! He has said that “this is the best time he’s ever had” and things “couldn't be better”. Based on the photos, your blogs and the things he tells us, he is not going to want to come home!! Thank you, Vianeli and Hana for making this an experience of a lifetime!"
"The feedback is that this has been the most outstanding trip Charlie has ever taken. This will go down as the time when my son broke out of his shell and started to really love life people places and experiences. Yes for such incredible friendships from these past 12 days and I don’t think I have ever seen him quite so happy every single time I talk to him. Charlie has expressed to me on numerous accounts how wonderful a counselor and guide and mentor and friend that you have have been. It is his fourth trip and by far his most favorite on all fronts. I can’t thank you enough for taking care of our children while in Europe. It’s a huge responsibility and you took it seriously and gave them the time of their lives. I could not be more grateful and appreciative of this trip and the program and the moments that he will carry with him the rest of his life. AAA+ grade in my book."
"This trip to Italy was such an amazing time. From swimming in the Mediterranean Ocean for the first time, to eating true Italian cuisine, this was such a great trip. I saw and experienced a whole different culture from mine. Modes of transportation, housing and the food were all different from what I was used to. I got to see the magnificent, old ruins of the ancient city Pompeii, and explore the cities of Positano, Amalfi, and Capri. I got to eat true Italian gelato and make and paint my own ceramics. I loved swimming in the water on the pebble beach looking at the volcano in the distant. I learned more skills on working with peers and in a group to figure out the best way to complete tasks and time management. Also, I met some really cool people! I cannot wait to go back to Italy again one day."
