DAY 1: Hello Iceland!
Flight from your preferred airport to Reykjavik.
DAY 2: Exploring Reykjavik
Welcome to Iceland! You’ll be met at the airport by your TFT guides, who will accompany you for the duration of your journey. After getting settled into our guesthouse in downtown Reykjavik, we’ll get acquainted with the city on a walking tour led by locals, and even get a bird’s-eye view of the city from atop the Hallgrimskirkja Belltower. For dinner, get your first taste of delicious Icelandic cuisine at one of our favorite restaurants!
DAY 3: Discover the Golden Circle
Today we’ll begin exploring the breathtaking geography of the Golden Circle region of Iceland. We’ll first stop at the mighty Gulfoss Waterfall, before continuing to Strokkur Geyser, from which we get the word “geyser” in English. In the afternoon, visit the one-of-a-kind Thingvellir National Park. This beautiful national park, sacred to Icelanders as being home to the first Parliament in Europe in the year 930, is also geologically fascinating because it’s where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. Students will have the option of going snorkeling in the Silfra Fissure*, where the water is a bright turquoise blue and you can see clearly down to 300 feet, or hiking in the park. In the evening, relax at our cozy guesthouse and even go for a soak in the local hot springs.**
*Students must be age 14 or older to participate in the Silfra Fissure snorkeling activity.
**Note: With the exception of the Blue Lagoon, admissions to the hot springs are not included in tuition. Please contact us for more information.
DAY 4: Picturesque Vik
Our journey around Iceland’s Ring Road continues along the southern coast today. Start the day with visits to Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss Waterfalls, which students will surely recognize from social media as some of the most iconic places in Iceland. See where the puffins roost at Dyrholaey Promontory, and climb on the incredible basalt rock columns at the black sand beach. We’ll spend the night in the coastal town of Vík, where students will have free time to explore.
DAY 5: Hiking Vatnajokull Glacier
Today, we’ll introduce students to one of Iceland’s crown jewels: the spectacular Vatnajokull Glacier. Students will have the option of hiking the glacier with a guide to explore a hidden ice cave, or of hiking to a basalt waterfall. In the afternoon, visit the unique Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, where the Vatnajokull Glacier meets the Atlantic Ocean. See if you can spot local wildlife like seals floating in the Lagoon!
DAY 6: Iceland's Eastfjords
Our road trip continues through the impressive Eastfjords. The massive cliffs plunging into the ocean will surely take your breath away. We’ll stop for lunch in the quaint seaside village of Seydisfjordur, where students can explore and get a feel for what life is like in rural Iceland. In the evening, we’ll head to a local family’s horse farm. What better way to spend your time in Iceland than by taking a twilight horseback ride? After riding the gentle Icelandic horses, students can warm up with homemade waffles and a soak in the jacuzzi.
Day 7: Myvatn & Akureyri
We’ll drive across the northern half of the country today as we continue on our journey. First, see the source of Iceland’s geothermal energy at the Hverir Hotpots, then explore the unique geology of the village of Myvatn, including the massive crater leftover from a volcanic eruption centuries ago. Spend the night in Iceland’s second-largest city, Akureyri, where students can have time for souvenir shopping and exploring on their own.
Day 8: Snaefellsnes Peninsula & Kirkjufell Mountain
Though today is perhaps our longest drive, students will be clamoring to stop for photo opportunities all along the way! We’ll head to the famous Snaefellsnes Peninsula, home to some of the most iconic places in Iceland, including Kirkjufell Mountain. Upon our arrival to the Peninsula, we’ll even go on a Viking Sushi tour for what is certainly the freshest seafood you’ll ever eat!
Day 9: The Blue Lagoon
As we head back to Reykjavik today, we’ll stop to reflect on our trip during a soak at none other than the Blue Lagoon hot springs that made Iceland famous. Upon our arrival back in the capital, students will have time for last-minute souvenir shopping before we enjoy an upscale final dinner to celebrate the end of an amazing trip.
DAY 10: Until Next Time, Iceland
Your TFT guides will accompany you to the airport and assist you with check-in for your flight. Wave goodbye as you head through security and sit back and relax on your flight home.

We are there for you every step of the way, and our support begins the moment you decide to do a TFT trip! We will provide you with a team member who will help bring your tour to life, along with everything you need to help get students to sign up for the adventure! On the tour you will have 24/7 dedicated staff with you to ensure everything runs smoothly and because we know travel is full of surprises, solve anything that may pop up along the way.
Photos and Email Updates
Your trip is special and you and your students should have those memories captured forever! Expect frequent personal email updates and hundreds of photos from your TFT staff shared with you and your students’ families so everyone can follow along on the journey. We are the only teen travel program to offer this in-depth trip communication and it truly makes all the difference!
