What is Airalo?

What is an eSIM?
eSIM stands for “embedded SIM card.” It’s a tiny SIM chip that’s built into your phone’s hardware. Like a traditional SIM card, it identifies you as a mobile subscriber and connects you to a carrier’s network. But it does it 100% digitally!
How do eSIMs Work?
You can think of an eSIM as a digital SIM card. It’s a reprogrammable chip that allows you to download a data plan on the go. With an eSIM, connecting to a mobile network is easy. You can purchase and download an eSIM plan, install it on your device, and activate it when you arrive at your destination.
Can I make phone calls and send texts?
While most Airalo plans are data only, they do offer some plans that include talk/text. Make sure to double check the specific plan inclusions when you are making a purchase!
What if I use all of my data before I'm done traveling?
Not to worry! You can use the Airalo app to top off your data plan or purchase another eSIM. Airalo doesn’t allow you to go over and incur additional charges. Once you use up all of your data, it will simply be shut off and you will manually have to add more.
Is my device eSIM compatible?
Most newer versions of smartphones, tablets, and wearable devices support eSIMs, but you’ll need to check if your device is eSIM-compatible before you can use an eSIM. It’s always best to verify with your device manufacturer!
What if my device is not eSIM compatible?
If you find that your device is not able to support an eSIM, your carrier most likely offers an international phone plan. It is best to check with your carrier for more information about what each service provides. If your device possesses a physical SIM, most destinations offer this option as well. You can simply purchase a physical SIM card specific to the carriers based in the country you are traveling in and set it up with the seller.
