This week when we began to judge the best instagrams, we were blown away by the beauty of the places and the talent of our session 3 students. There were too many #TFTawesome instas to pick just one, and it was nearly impossible to narrow it down by myself. They were so amazing, that I had to call in the pros (literally). My dad, David Campli of Campli Photography, stood in as “celebrity judge” to help me out. He used his expert eye to pick out the winners based on the composition, layering, lighting, and even emotional impact. Even after polling my whole family, we were still unable to choose one winner- so there was an honorable mention named for a couple of the trips. You’ll see this week there’s an added “why we picked it” part of the caption, to explain the unique characteristics of each winning instagram. Thank you to all who participated and added their beautiful photos to the #goTFT hashtag and congrats to our winners- enjoy your #TFTswag!
Hayley G. makes beautiful Interlaken look even better on our Europe for Older Teens trip. WHY WE PICKED IT: perfect composition and great emotion, encompassing Switzerland with the flag and spectacular mountain backdrop.
*Honorable mention* Sofia H. is on top of the world in the swiss alps. WHY WE PICKED IT: we loved the personal touch of the converse here, and we can almost feel what a jolly day it was on Europe for Older Teens.
Jaw-dropping full rainbow shot by Molly M. on Costa Rica Service and Adventure. WHY WE PICKED IT: no explanation needed, we’re still blown away that this is actually real.
Kira N. on London and Paris captures one of the 7 wonders of the world perfectly. WHY WE PICKED IT: great backlight, it’s a strong and simplistic photo of the Stonehenge.
Catherine P’s perspective from Taormina on our Sicily community service trip. WHY WE PICKED IT: love the view of mainland Italy off in the distance.
Gorgeous view of Monterosso at night by Max S. on our Cinque Terre community service trip. WHY WE PICKED IT: great composition because the horizon line and the main subject was placed in lower left third in addition to the great layering complimented by perfect lighting.
Cara B. captures the unique houses of Amsterdam at night on our Amsterdam, Belgium, Paris trip. WHY WE PICKED IT: Shot at the golden hour, the reflection of the sun off the windows paired with blue sky create the perfect magic that is Amsterdam.
*Honorable mention* Ariana A’s unique shot of the Louvre pyramid on Amsterdam, Belgium, Paris. WHY WE PICKED IT: of the thousands of instagrams taken at the Louvre each day, we rarely see one from this fantastic perspective; the thought that went in to capturing this picture from a different angle had to be commended.
