Breathtaking mountain vistas and adventure await on this expedition in the Italian and Swiss Alps. This amazing trip features hiking in the Italian Dolomites and the Alps in Switzerland, mountain biking and canyoning, and two days exploring Verona, one of Italy's most charming towns. Come with your hiking boots and a sense of adventure!
DAY 1: NEWARK (FOR THOSE WHO OPT TO TAKE THE GROUP FLIGHT)
The trip begins when our group flight departs Newark Airport!
DAYS 2 - 5: SWISS ALPS
We begin our alpine expedition in a village high in the Swiss Alps. Using this idyllic town as home base for four nights, we'll venture into the surrounding forests and mountains for a variety of outdoor activities accompanied by our expert guides. Embrace your sense of adventure and go mountain biking through the forest, hike through fields of wildflowers in bloom, go canyoning in a mountain stream, and visit the historic Chateau de Chillon and charming Montreaux on Lake Geneva.
DAYS 5 - 7: DOLOMITES
A private coach bus will take us from Switzerland over the Alps and into the Dolomites, a mountain range in northern Italy that is one of the world's top outdoor destinations. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009, the Dolomites will stun you with their awe-inspiring peaks, emerald green valleys, and crisp mountain air. We'll take a cable car up to a rifugio that will be our home for the next two nights. Our mountain accommodations provide us with a comfortable and incredibly authentic way to experience the best of alpine hiking, and they serve up some of the best food in Italy! On a hike through the Catinaccio range above the Val di Fassa, you will encounter some of the most incredible scenery you've ever seen, as well as stop at a local dairy farm to taste some of the artisanal cheeses being produced on the spot.
DAYS 8 - 10: VERONA
Charming Verona offers the perfect setting to wrap up this Swiss and Italian adventure. With the Adige river curving through the center of town, Verona offers a wealth of ancient Roman ruins, beautiful medieval buildings and squares, and a laid-back ambience that is the essence of the Italian bella vita. Shakespeare set several of his plays here as well, and we'll visit Juliet's balcony and the ancient Roman amphitheater and archeological museum. On our last night we'll dine at a traditional Italian trattoria and reminisce about the adventure that we've shared over the last ten days!
Important Note: Keep in mind that we will be participating in physical outdoor activities such as mountain biking, hiking, and canyoning. Please come physically prepared to be active, hike in the mountains, and participate in this range of supercool activities.
