Start MIAMI TO SAN JOSE

End SAN JOSE TO MIAMI

Come enjoy la Pura Vida! on this 10 day surf and service trip to the southern Pacific region of Costa Rica. Using a comfortable hotel on the Osa Peninsula as our home base, we’ll spend our days learning to surf in the warm coastal waters of the Pacific, performing fun, valuable service to the local community, visiting nearby rainforest preserves filled with exotic wildlife, ziplining over jungle canopy, and taking a waterfall tour. All surfing skill levels are welcome and no Spanish is required (but if you are taking Spanish, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to practice!).

DAY 1: NEWARK, SAN JOSE, UVITA

As the group flight departs, the journey begins! Arrive in San Jose where a private bus will take us to our hotel.

DAYS 2 – 9: UVITA AND SURROUNDING AREA, MARINO BALLENA NATIONAL PARK

SURFING

Each morning we’ll eat a hearty breakfast then head to the beautiful Colonia Beach in the Marino Ballena National Park. With its sandy bottom and smooth, perfectly shaped waves, Colonia Beach is the ideal location to learn how to surf or progress to the next level. Our surf instructors are there to help you every step of the way using proven programs that are designed to be fun, safe, and get you on your feet in no time!

SERVICE

After lunch and a chance to shower and change, we’ll spend afternoons working with local schools and organizations on a variety of service projects designed to provide tangible, sustainable benefits to the community. Depending on the needs at the time, projects will include activities like painting desperately underfunded schools’ classrooms or fixing their run down playgrounds. We’ll also do some beach cleanup which is vital to the preservation of sea turtles; without a clear path for adult turtles to reach their nesting site or an open stretch of beach for hatched turtles to crawl into the sea from their nests, sea turtle populations begin to dwindle.

MARINO NATIONAL PARK, CANOPY TOUR, WATERFALL TOUR, AND PUNTA UVITA

On afternoons when we’re not volunteering, we’ll enjoy the natural beauty of the southern coast with fun day trips: explore Marino National Park, where monkeys, toucans (and many other birds), sloths, frogs, butterflies, and countless tropical creatures surround you; get breathtaking views of nature as you fly over jungle canopy on one of the best zip line tours in Costa Rica (don’t worry, it’s very safe!); swim under rainforest waterfalls and jump into the clear, refreshing pools they create on our waterfall tour; and walk along the peninsula known as the “whale’s tail”, a sand bar that extends over half a mile into the ocean at low tide!

DAY 10: SAN JOSE AIRPORT, HOME

Our final day we’ll hop a bus back to the airport for our flight home, all the while remembering our amazing adventure in one of the most beautiful, bio diverse countries on the planet. Pura vida!
