Our second language immersion program takes place the last two weeks of July in Seville, the jewel of Southern Spain. During our 13 days in this incredible city, participants will pick up a great deal of the language and get a strong sense of the rich and colorful culture of southern Spain.

The program features 5 days of Spanish Language classes each morning, held at an accredited institute plus weekend excursions to Granada, Cordoba and the beaches of Malaga. Classes during the day will be followed by afternoons visiting the sights of our home base.

NOTE: For the most comprehensive language experience, combine this trip with our Spain & Portugal trip (which begins 2 weeks prior in Barcelona), and the Barcelona & Mallorca trip (which begins immediately after the Seville program) for an affordable summer of Spanish.

classFlamenco DancerIt is hard to be in a city more truly Spanish than Seville, stunning in its beauty with its Spanish, Moorish and Roman architecture, orange trees scenting the air.

Many operas have been written about Seville, with good reason. Aside from its beauty, locals take great pride in the fact that it is one of the birthplaces of Flamenco dance and guitar.

As far back as the 18th century, gypsies in Triana (the once Bohemian part of city located on the opposite side of the beautiful Guadalquivir river) gave street performances for tourists. Eventually the performances moved indoors and today Seville is teeming with Flamenco in its bars, clubs and theaters. On the trip, you will see a Flamenco show and understand why the Andalusians are so passionate about it.

Not far from our hotel in the heart of the city sits the largest Roman Catholic cathedral in the world, built on the ruins of a Moorish mosque over 600 years ago.

CathedralInside, beneath a 126 foot high dome, you will see Christopher Columbus' tomb, among many other priceless artifacts. Just steps from the cathedral are the sprawling, lush Alcazar Gardens, walled in by a 650 year old castle.

Alhambra Smiling Girls

alhambraYou will journey to Granada to see the most famous Moorish palace in the world, the Alhambra.

We also visit Cordoba, home of the famous Mezquita, once the largest mosque in the world; it is absolutely amazing--it is in fact considered one of the most important mosques in the Western World, often called the eighth wonder.

A trip to Seville would not be complete without a day trip to the Costa del Sol, where we will see everything the stunning, hip city of Malaga has to offer.

Evenings will be spent mingling with the locals at the famous tapas bars of Seville. Participants will also have the chance to go dancing at a few safe and fun clubs in Seville. As always, your counselors will be with you to enhance the fun.

This trip is the perfect combination of formal language learning and cultural exploration.
